AIESEC history

AIESEC organization has experienced many changes and  achieved great results throughout the period of more than 60 years. From the 7-country community we have grown to the organization of 113 countries. While we had started our activity supplying information about studies conditions and basically managing the trainees‘ exchanges, now we are focusing on global members development keeping internships as one of the main stage of development. Get familiar with the main  facts of our global history!

1948 – Students from Finland, Sweden, France, Denmark, Belgium, Norway and The Netherlands found AIESEC.

1958 – AIESEC expands to Africa and South America and becomes global organization.

1963 – The president United States of America J.F. Kennedy attends AIESEC International Congress organized first time outside Europe (USA).

1964 – The delegates of 16th International Congress in Rome visit Pope John Paul IX.

1970 – The first AIESEC International Congress in Asia (Tokyo, Japan).

1977 – AIESEC starts to organize “Leadership Development Seminars” in the network.

1984 – AIESEC International enters the information age. With the help of Citibank it starts to use computers.

1989 – 7029 international internships realized.

1992 – AIESEC attends all the United Nations conferences as a global youth representative.

2005 –„AIESEC 2010“ strategic plan is created.

2007 We unite active youth in 107 countries.

2010 – We realize 10000 international internships – our new record.
